Reception problem?

If a municipality is covered by the terrestrial digital signal it does not necessarily mean that all areas of the municipality receive it adequately.
Some of the reasons why the signal may not be received are:
  • Orographic conformation
  • Inadequacy of the antenna system
In the first case the signal is not admissible.
In the second case the signal is admissible provided that the necessary interventions are made on the antenna.

To receive digital channels with your analogue TV it will be sufficient to equip yourself with a decoder or a TV with integrated decoder. For a full enjoyment of digital TV, the decoder must be interactive. To receive, on the other hand, HD content is necessary first of all to have a Full HD or HD Ready TV and an HD decoder, different from the standard one. In case of Full HD TVs with integrated decoder, it is advisable to check that the integrated decoder supports high definition broadcasts. A first tuning of the decoder must be done when it is installed. In General it is advisable to retune the decoder every time you have news of the activation of a new digital channel or of the passage (to digital) of an analogue transmission. Some decoders can automatically tune new digital channels that should be transmitted, for others it may be necessary to operate manually through simple operations that can be performed with the remote control for which it is advisable to consult the Manual of the apparatus. The digital terrestrial offers, besides a wider choice of channels, a better quality of images: The Vision in cinematographic format (16:9) and the possibility of transmitting in high definition. For the users, therefore, the main benefits deriving from the introduction of DTT are:

  • A greater number of programs available (up to quintuple than the current ones);
  • Better image/audio quality up to high definition;
  • The possibility of active and immediate participation in television programmes (expression of preferences, selection of products, etc.) with simple actions on the remote control, instead of making calls or sending SMS;
  • The possibility to use the television medium for the use of information and public utility services;
  • Lower electromagnetic emissions: DTT requires lower transmission powers than analogue.

  How to receive the digital terrestrial: The antennas the radio reception systems for digital terrestrial television are identical to those used for analogue reception. The current antennas (in bands III, IV and V) and the distribution network from the antennas inside the buildings with the appropriate intermediate devices are also suitable for digital reception. In Some cases, however, you may be required to mount an additional antenna, such as when you do not already have an antenna in the band on which the digital signal is radiated. It has been planned that the new digital networks will avail the same analogue TV broadcast sites.
